Since watching Daniel-san's immortal 'crane kick' as a child, I have been fascinated by the martial arts, however I didn't begin my training for many years hence.

My involvement with Fujian White Crane Kung Fu began initially as a means to get fit, as I was unhappy with the effect city life was having on my health. In the subsequent years, however, kung fu has become so much more. As well as the physical benefits of fitness, strength, stamina and flexibility, not to mention learning the ability to defend yourself, training yields positive results in every aspect of life - self confidence, calmness under pressure, focus, motivation, strength of character to name but a few.

Over the years with the club, I have been lucky enough to travel to China several times, in both training and research capacities. By way of training, I have trained under respected Masters of Yong Chun White Crane, Natural Boxing, Wu Style Tai Chi and Xing Yi styles. First-hand experience of these styles has served to cement my love of my own style, whilst improving my understanding of the style's core principles.

The research trips, conducted with Wushu Scholar Ltd., have taken me the length and breadth of China, watching, recording and documenting a vast array of traditional and modern Chinese martial arts (not to mention the breath-taking scenery and sumptuous food). These experiences have opened my eyes to the significance of the martial arts in the wider Chinese culture, as well as to set in context my own training and fuel my desire to learn more.

I have recently resigned from my job working for a large bank in the City, to focus solely on teaching kung fu. I opened a club in Twickenham two years ago, and am now spending all of my time expanding the club, and of course honing my own skills.
